Formulas for calculating customs payment in Ukraine

07.08.2019

All goods with value up to 100 EUR are not taxable

New amendment to the Tax Code of Ukraine entered into force on July 1, 2019.

There are two formulas for calculating customs payment:

  • For shipments with total invoice value above 100 EUR but below 150 EUR (customs duty is not calculated; VAT rate is 20% of the sum exceeding 100 EUR):

Example 1:   $130 Calvin Klein Shoes

Value of the goods:  $130 (115EUR)
Customs duty:  N/A
VAT:  (115EUR-100EUR) * 20% = 3 EUR
Total payment:  3 EUR

  • For shipments with total invoice value above 150EUR but below 10000EUR (customs duty rate is 10% of the sum exceeding 150EUR; VAT rate is 20% of the sum exceeding 100EUR and sum of the customs duty):

Example2:   $600 iPhone

Value of the goods:  $600 (530EUR)
Customs duty:  (530EUR-150EUR) * 10% = 38 EUR
VAT:  (530EUR-100EUR + 38EUR) * 20% = 93.6 EUR
Total customs fees:  131.6 EUR

  • Payments must be paid in UAH according to the rate of the National Bank of Ukraine on the date of submission of customs declaration.
  • All goods with value up to 100 EUR are not taxable.
