To mark Ukraine’s Independence Day, Meest, together with the Consulates General of Ukraine in Houston and the “Batkivska Hata Homestead” project, is launching the initiative “Born in Vyshyvanka”. Within the project, Ukrainian babies will receive their first embroidered shirt (vyshyvanka) as a symbol of national identity and love for their native culture.
Vyshyvankas will be gifted to parents when they receive a certificate of Ukrainian citizenship for their child at consular offices.
In addition to the embroidered shirt, as part of the project, parents will also receive a certificate for a free parcel to Ukraine from Meest.
After scheduling an appointment with the Consulate through the E-Consul electronic system, parents can apply to receive a vyshyvanka at this link: https://forms.gle/47WMxwc9UTustZ9i9
The “Born in Vyshyvanka” project will run throughout the year. We invite families to share photos of their newborns in vyshyvankas on social media with the hashtag #BorninVyshyvanka, helping to create a warm cultural bridge between Ukraine and the United States.
